Animal Testing should be banned

Animals resemble a lot of human beings. They can think, feel, smell. Like human beings, they too feel loneliness when caged. For centuries and from the beginning we humans have held the top position on our planet. We are separated by a thick wall that places us in supremacy over other species. But our top position on the evolution chart, do you think is a justification to place millions of lively animals in extremely painful research labs?

Animal testing is a threat to animal life. It is against animal rights. I would love to take people to throw some of the painful tests that are done on animals.

The Draize testing, infamous for its intense pain that they inflict on the experimental subject, in which chemical is placed on the eye and then the animal is monitored for damage of cornea and other tissues near the eye.

LD50 test, in which animals are hooked on tubes to pump a huge amount of test product into their stomachs and are left to die slowly. These experiments are extremely painful and can take even weeks for death.

As an alternative, we have many synthetic tissues that closely resemble human skin like artificial skin, computer simulation and estimation, vitro testing, etc. Also, 95 out of 100 drugs that pass animal tests fail in humans.

Although animal testing is important for certain research but for some research, another alternative may be worked upon because the animal body is cheaper to work upon a large number of companies do not prefer to have another alternative when they can research on one. Animal's bodies are used on terrible tests and hence I believe such tests must be banned to protect animal life.

Suppose all animal testing is banned. Would anyone buy a drug, a chemical product that is not yet tested well and is to directly experiment on you?

We need animal testing because we cannot hold experiments on human beings. Take an example that we have only one to save a human being dying on a lonely road or an animal, certainly one would save a human first. Animal testing is important for the making of vaccines and a lot of life-saving drugs and that's why we make use of the animal body for testing.

A person lying on a hospital bed needs to be treated with drugs that can heal him. For the development of antibiotics, we needed to research animal bodies before we give them to human beings to check if the drug has some side effects. Evidently, in the past centuries, these chemicals and antibiotics have saved us from a far worst scenario and are helping us now. The coronavirus vaccine helped save a lot many lives.

For those who say animal testing is notoriously playing against animal rights, I do agree with this point as being a civilized person, but the alternative that we have nowadays aren't omnipotent enough to justify that the product or the drug is risk-free. We cannot close down research labs, medical departments. We need drugs and so we need to carry out experiments and testing before we bring out any product in the market to ensure that the product is safe to be used and hence it is an absolute necessity to hold out experiments on animal bodies.
